This week’s Wellness Wednesday hits close to home, since we had the
pleasure of meeting sweet little Addy when she came to get a Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair!
Here’s what Addy’s owner Erin has to say: “This is Addy. She was surrendered to New Westminster Animal Shelter when she was 5 months old, after a fall off a balcony left her paralyzed in the back end. She was transferred to SAINTS Rescue soon after. I work at SAINTS and when there’s no school I bring my daughter to work with me. Phaedre and Addy fell in love right away and we brought Addy home as a permanent foster in September. Addy gets laser therapy and physiotherapy at Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital every week and runs around in her wheels for about a half an hour every night. She is about 8 months old now, and we are so lucky to have her in our family. Thanks Handicapped Pets Canada!”
How do you help her use the letterbox? We’re trying to help an older cat who lost use of his back legs.
Hi Miscal, cats can’t use the litter box in a wheelchair as they can’t get in and out on there own and there is most likely not room in the box for the whole cart if you lift them in. Cats usually need to be held up by you or with assistance of a harness.
